Glenn and Sarah for 2012?

Advertise | AdChoices

Would it be interesting to see if Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin run for office in 2012?  Sarah run for President, while Glenn takes the Vice position.  Both are equally controversial in today's environment and all over the Country.  Both have ideas and proposals to bring to the table.  Neither of them are liked for that matter, but it would be a true statement to the Folks out there that don't believe in this Country anymore and to the ones who keep believing the Obama Administration is still taking our Country forward.  This article is for fun, yet still in Politics, where we could discuss the possibilities of both Glenn and Sarah coming together, running for Office and discussing their point of views. I have posted a link for Glenn on his point of views here:

http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/glenn-beck/index.html#/v/1031046419001/beck-do-we-have-a-plan-part-1/?playlist_id=86917

Here I have posted a link on Sarah Palin's point of views:

Sarah Palin is not very bright. Glenn Beck is an entertainer who's fairly good at emoting. Why would we want to consider them to lead the free world? Is this about their "qualifications" (or lack thereof), or is it about some people's hatred for the opposition, and putting these two up as leaders is a way to vent? Why would anybody who cares about this country want to do that? Make no mistake: I'm not necessarily opposed to an enlightened, true intellectual conservative of the old school who's actually educated in the Constitution, who believes in keeping the government out of personal, private matters and who espouses small government and big liberty for individuals. But, by any reasonable person's standards, these two circus sideshow acts are an insult to true conservatism, and to this country.

Hi truth Sleuth Glenn Beck is an entertainer who's fairly good at emoting

So, we also see Arnold Schwarzenegger & of course Ronald Reagan both were entertainers in their own right, but converted to Politics without a problem. As for Sarah Palin, she can be very entertaining, but is an caomplished politician in her own right.

AR...okay, I know it is Monday....but have you lost your mind, my friend? Listen, I like both of them as individuals and they have their rightful place in American politics and have done a fabulous job as spokespeople for sanity and fiscal restraint, but as the Prez and VP? It gives me the heebeegeebee's just thinking about it. Sorry, I had to vote no.

Hi, Carla. Acting is not the issue, as in a vacuum. Arnold and Reagan, according to many, had other assets to bring to bear. I may or may not agree with them, but my own assessment is that they, at least, had a little more intelligence and world view and experience. They also had at least a semblance of dignity, polish and refinement about them. Sarah Palin is a low-class, reality show embarrassment, imho. There is nothing currently or potentially "presidential" about her or her family. Whether my president is conservative or liberal, I'm one of those who does prefer that he/she be "elite." That's an asset in my book, and I suspect those who are offended by the concept of "elite" are erroneously inferring some kind of insult or slight to their own intelligence or education or status. That's insecurity speaking. And it's nonsense. Again, just my humble opinion.

And that is EXACTLY the problem in Washington....they are out of touch elitists who tell us we must "tighten our belts" as they spend like drunken sailors and pad their lifestyle with nice perks the rest of us as the commoners are unable to have - for instance, they get a retirement bene no matter how long they have been in Congress and what they may or may not have done - even ethically challenges individuals -like Weiner and Rangel, special healthcare, and waivers when Obamacare kicks in fully, and much more. I prefer "common" folks who have some sense!

If it were to happen....

I think that it would be similar to someone on the left like Michael Moore, or Jon Stewart becoming president. They might say and criticize a lot but I doubt any four of them would even know what to do with the office. Its not like being president is easy & even for those that agree with said peoples positions, the honeymoon would be over quick.

Too often today we draw lines between criticism of the current state to leadership ability. The truth is most pundits, and critics whether they be from the left or the right would make horrible presidential candidates, and even worse presidents.

vol fan, "elitism" is not the root cause of hypocrisy or rampant spending. Bad governance is. Politics is. Being beholden to special interests is, whether it be corporations or organized labor. "Elitism" evokes notions of snobbishness and out-of-touch-ness, as you rightly pointed out. Very intelligent, well-educated, highly qualified individuals--both conservative AND liberal--can be good leaders and in-touch with average Americans. Likewise, ignorant opportunist buffoons--both conservative AND liberal--can be poor leaders and just as out-of-touch as you described. I'm into real qualifications, not perceptions of snobbishness or holier-than-thou-ness--iow, "image." There's more to a leader's qualifications than marketed, packaged image. Granted, many politicians are just that, but some actual qualifications can still be salvaged beneath the marketing. I simply don't see that with Palin or Beck.

But I had to vote no, the entire idea gave me some heebee geebee's too. They are doing what they do great right now, being a voice for conservatives. I think that is an interesting combination.....
It will never happen, but if it happened, and they won the nomination, I would certainly vote for them as opposed to four more years of watching the White House lead the charge to destroy America as we have known it.

Now....honesty is always the best policy, IMHO. It is with that in mind that I address the two videos from Glenn's last show on FNC.

"The Plan" that he is discussing is actually referring to his company, Mercury Arts, and their plans for his new venture....GBTV.

They (he and his team) DO have a plan, and it is an intelligent one. It will work very well, IMHO.

If you are not familiar with it....just go to GBTV.com and watch the videos that are available for free viewing. The plan begins with the 'Restoring Courage' event to be held in Jerusalem this August.

He has stated repeatedly that he has no interest in political office, and based on his current plans.....there is no way he would commit this amount of time and resources were ANY plans (other than GBTV) were on his agenda.

That's alright, Tyler. Intelligent people know that it was merely an observation, an opinion, which we here on the Vine all have the right to express, and that there need not be any hate involved. However, there are some people who consider anyone who does not agree with them or their personal political or religious beliefs are full of hate. My observation on that, if they were not so full of hate themselves they would not be so quick to accuse everyone else of being full of hate.

Your opinions and observations are just as welcome here as anyone else's. Keep 'em coming. :-)

but seriously, for an independent I will not vote for a republican who is prepared to make a double pledge; one for the Constitution and one for a defacto dictator Grover Norquist against tax/reform.
So my questions to these two are: how will they pledge and quiz them on the Constitution.

Non even close, Agagnu. The Tea Party is alive and well!

I'm not sure about Palin, but Beck is very, very well versed in the Constitution. Go check out, 'The Original Argument' and you'll see what I mean.

Hey Deb....it's a bit like paying for Public Television, but this is different!

It sounds like you may already be a member of GBTV. If so...first let me say what a wise investment you've made in your education, and in your desire to help return America to its former greatness!
Now....go out to your local retailer where you buy your electronics and pick up one of these new tech DVD players with WIFI/Broadband internet access built-in. There is an neat machine available through Best Buys nationwide called a ROKU as well. Most of these have varieties priced as low as $60. Other go upwards to $300....anyway...
With these units, you can surf media rich content sights, and watch them on your television. GBTV IS available to watch on these units!

So you can have your GBTV and your big screen too!

(No...I am not a paid spokesperson for GBTV....I just wanted to share!)

Feel free to speak for your self as to your beliefs and opinions, and/or others you know agree with your them. However, but, you do not have the right to speak for me. I do not agree with you, and do not feel that Beck ever provided anything of any near viable importance, only hate, lies and fear mongering.

While it is your right to express your opinions and beliefs all you like, you do not have the right to speak for me as someone who agrees with those opinions or beliefs that your generalization implies.

Tink, I've never heard of you to speak for you. Twice you told me I have no right to speak for you. I agree, and wasn't aware I singled you out as speaking for you. AR seeded the article, and my comment was directed to him and the rest of us who enjoyed what Beck had to say. So in that context you do not have the right to assume you knew who I was talking to, nor the right to even imply I was talking about you since you were never named in my comment. So consider us even, and I hope it makes you feel better about yourself now that you've cleared up your position about Beck with the rest of us. It's no secret around here Beck is despised by many of you all, and I hope that didn't offend you that I took the liberty to speak for you there with that comment? You hate Beck, that's evident and therefore felt the need to criticize me too. Hate, lies, fear mongering? Those are original opinions, and observations on your part to say the least. How many episodes of Beck have you watched to make you such an authority on him? I'll bet no more than an hour in total, just like many other of his critics, who have no idea what Beck is about. Mike---you obviously missed my point by a mile. It has nothing to do with Beck, Fox News or any of the other such trash. It has nothing to do with who your statement was directed to. It is your choice of wording that implies that I and everyone else here on the Vine agrees with and supports your opinion of Beck and his BS that I take exception to. That is why I said you do not speak for me, as I am certainly not a fan of Beck, and I do not agree with anything he says. There is nothing he can say that is of the least importance to me as implied by your use of the inclusive word 'all' in your statement, which implies that you are speaking for everyone here, including me.

And again you are wrong, I do not hate Beck, or anyone else. Hate is a waste of spiritual strength and disrupts Harmony . However, I find him to be a total Fruit 'n Nut basket with wayyyyyy too many peanuts, and highly disagree with him.

@ Mweaver Good morning my friend.

What a terrifying scenario that would be, Beck weeping and Sarah screaming that the lamestream press was attacking her. Say anything bad about the US or sister Palin and you would have black helo's circling above your house.

haha Not my house, I'll be in Canada. It'll be safe there, we both know those two won't go anywhere near universal health care. It's like their kryptonite. ;-)

AR, are you a former editor of "MAD MAGAZINE"? I would have a much easier time supporting a Charley Sheen/Lady GaGA ticket, at least instead of a mudslinging, boring old rehash of a campaign we could all take a ride on the party train.

How about a Perry/Bachman ticket ? Tea Partiers would be ecstatic to have someone so far up, and she could be tucked away and rendered harmless like most V.P.s.

About the only opportunity Palin/ Beck would give us is the chance to embarrass ourselves.

Steven does have point AR, any ticket with Beck on it will make it easier for Obama to sneak back in. Palin is still viable but Palin/Beck would scare to many centrists and independents away. To much of anything is bad.

Moderates prefer the separation of Church and State. Given the choice of a lying socialist and a narrow minded preacher-man many are sure to find the liar easier to accept.

On Starting Again ...

It was Mitch McConnell who claimed that elections had failed.

As for starting again, perhaps a Second Republic???

When lightweight, policy-lacking figures can be postulated for the highest offices in the land, it is time to recognize that the experiment has failed. For good or for ill, the Republic is finished. Civic discourse not only lacks rationality; it becomes nihilistic.

It is suggestions precisely such as this which alert reflective persons to the fact that it is time to recognize the disintegration of the Republic. Hence, you start again.

God bless the United States of New America, The Second, United States Republic!

If you are talking about switching to Socialism or some other "sounds good in theory, but has always failed miserably in the real worlds" form of dictatorial government, then no thanks.

We'd be better off the the extremely difficult uphill battle of fixing what's gone wrong.

I know zero about Glenn Beck...I don't get cable, so I've never watched his show.

Sarah Palin? I think she is a very intelligent woman, she was elected Governor of Alaska and had a very high approval rating among her constituents before the Presidential election...when it all went to hell in a handbasket after the media demonization. But I wouldn't want to see her on the ticket in 2012.

I'd like to see a moderate Conservative, socially somewhat liberal, someone who believes in getting the government out of our private lives...with a good sense of economics and fiscal responsibility, true leadership abilities, someone who would put America first and our allies second...and not someone who would kowtow to our enemies. Most importantly, they would need to have a good strong "bean counter" mentality in there somewhere, someone who would insist on going through the budget line item by line item and eliminating wasteful programs and committees...someone with a good strong work ethic who would insist on value for the dollar and not someone who had any buddies in politics who would have to be paid off with our tax dollars. A Centrist, or perhaps a Libertarian...political party affiliation wouldn't matter as much as their determination to get us out of this mess, and a sound fiscal plan to do so.

Alas, I am wishing for something that doesn't seemingly exist anymore...an American citizen with the money to enable them to get elected, the will to do so, and the knowledge to get something done once they get there.

Gender wouldn't matter to me, nor would race, or religion, or sexual orientation...as long as they had some freaking common sense.

Still, my vote next year will be ABO...so if you can get them on the ticket, AR...LOL!

merleliz, you may know more about Beck than you think by not watching him. Most of the folks here on the vine know more about Beck than those that watch him. They don't watch him either but know everything there is too know about him. They can even tell you what he said and what he meant by it telepathically, because they admit not watching him and know all this, and relay it back to us, without any uncertainty. Amazing isn't it?

Every word he has ever spoken has pretty much been repeated right here on the Vine at least a dozen times. It sounds to me as though you are saying that all of the people on the left who hate and do all they can to discredit Beck are Fox News Channel watchers.

I guess the same goes for those who put down O'Reilly and Hannity. With all of the liberals watching, it's no wonder Fox News is number 1.

Yellow Dog, I think that's where the problem lies. People are only aware of the goofy @!$%# that his critics show on the other stations. If they would give equal exposure to the content other than the goofy @!$%# peoples opinions of him may be different. I'll admit not everything is valuable that comes out of his mouth, but I will also say there is more valuable, and informative information being spoken by him than not. That's the part the other stations don't care to share with their audiences.

Sorry guys I got my abduction license suspended for the next three earth months. I got in trouble for trying to create a planet of women! Every last one of them was a hottie! And of course I tried valiantly to perpetuate the species single-handedly so to speak!

They confiscated my hotties, (3/4ths of them were already pregnant). The high command was angry because I didn't share! Poor sports! Something about not enough genetic diversity! I told them I was as genetically diverse as anyone! The women were of all different races! And I didn't have a problem with that!

It was just me, 10,000 earth women and the Kama Sutra! (I think one of them stole my wallet) it had my alien express card in it. You know the one that says never leave your galaxy without it!
